I feel a funk settling.

A migraine too.

I’m going to work on my novel some more, print off my stuff and be in bed by 10 I think.

I hate funks.

I just finished my summer FLAS application.

All that’s left is to print it and turn it, and my undergraduate and graduate transcripts, in tomorrow and wait.

If I get funding that means I will begin applying for Fulbrights and other fellowships to conduct my dissertation research in Germany in about a year or so.

If I don’t get the FLAS money it means Dissertation Plan B (involving a particular group of Tumblr bloggers) goes into effect.

I’m fine either way. Mostly.

This might be my favorite veggie combination.

Humphrey didn’t die yesterday, so he deserves a tribute.

It’s like he’s Gimli because he’s a dwarf and Gandalf because he returned from the dead.

Things that make me happy:

  • Books
  • Hot showers
  • Long baths
  • Good whiskey
  • Champagne
  • Music
  • Long emails from loved ones
  • Writing long emails to loved ones
  • My cats
  • Sofia’s giggles
  • This Is Water
  • Poetry
  • Pride & Prejudice (with Colin Firth)
  • Science shows
  • Dirty Jobs
  • Holding hands
  • Wine
  • Hugs
  • Having my friends near me
  • Debates about everything that end in laughter
  • My home
  • My bed
  • Thin mints

I feel inhaling tortilla chips as though your life depends upon it is a good way to handle things.

I can’t stop eating them.

Non-emo post.

I have a thousand words of the novel I’ve started writing complete.

So, that’s something.

Remember When — Alan Jackson

I’m generally not a big fan of Alan Jackson, but this song is so pretty.

discoverynews:

1. Call me Ishmael. - Herman Melville, Moby-Dick (1851)

2. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. - Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice (1813)

3. A screaming comes across the sky. - Thomas Pynchon, Gravity’s Rainbow (1973)

I don’t know if I agree with all of them, but this list is pretty great. Reminds me of why I love books so much.
